Short sleeved heavyweight cotton henley T-shirt with a classic button placket. Comfort, thick texture and exceptional longevity.
DETAILS:
The henley has its origins in the sport of rowing. Named after the English town of Henley-on-Thames, home of the Royal Regatta since 1839, it was the standard garment worn by competitive oarsmen throughout the 19th century. The button placket at the neck allowed the collar to be opened for ventilation during exertion, while the close fit minimised drag in the boat. From the river, the henley moved to the dockyard, the factory floor, and eventually the streets. By the early 20th century it had become a staple of working-class American dress — practical, durable, and quietly masculine. Today it remains one of the most versatile and enduring garments a man can own.
What makes this henley stand out is the fabric. Most T-shirts in mainstream chains fall between 140 and 180 g/m² (5 and 6 oz/yd²), fabric that is light, see-through, and loses its shape and colour after just a few washes. Our henley is made of 300 g/m² (10.6 oz/yd²) ring-spun cotton, double the fast fashion standard. Ring-spun cotton is produced by continuously twisting and thinning the cotton fibres, resulting in a stronger, softer, and more durable yarn than standard carded cotton. The result is a fabric with a tangible weight, a dense texture and a durability that makes itself felt with every wear. This is not a henley for one season, it is a piece that will last considerably longer.
FEATURES:
- Henley neckline with three-button placket.
- Heavyweight 300 g/m² (10.6 oz/yd²) ring-spun 100% cotton jersey.
- Machine washable.
SIZING:
- Regular to slightly slim fit.
- If you are between sizes, choose the larger one.
- To determine the best fit, it may be helpful to compare our garment's measurements to a similar garment you already own. Lay your garment on a flat surface and take all measurements from the outside of the garment.
